The Nachtwachters are at an ultimatum, the last couple decades, these guardians of the Domtoren and stargazers notice the lights of the night, the distant stars, glowing weaker and weaker. They require the help of the people of Utrecht and beyond to repopulate the night sky. During an interactive ritual with theatric and magical elements, the visitors form a star by standing still and immortalizing a moment in their lives. As the climb continuous, their star take more and more shape, until the Nachtwachters shoot it into space, to be left there for generations to come.

The "lights" that the visitors pick up during the climb required a lot for-me-yet-to-discover technology. Likewise with the star launcher. It was a very cooperative, explorative and iterative process that lead to the final products.
The most valuable discovery was how malfunctioning technology gained a meaning during a performance, and how to solve this with improvisation on the spot.
Process of the lamp development is shown here to the right.
It was probably the most time-consuming, but also important task, and the central point of the experience.
